Still Standing scored for the first time since March 2019 to provide Jessica Harrington and Shane Foley with the first leg of a double.

The six-year-old, who won the Listed Devoy Stakes two years ago, bounced back to form in the 1m3½f handicap after a thrilling three-way finish involving runner-up Ebony Maw and Springbank.

"He was a genuine Listed horse on his day," said Foley of the 5-2 favourite. "He had a few problems but it's nice to get his head back in front for the Durkans [The Three D Partnership, owners]."

Harrington and Foley completed their double in the following race when Soaring Sky showed a smart change of gears to mow down Macadam's Rock in the 1m3½f handicap for three-year-olds at 10-1.

Foley, who recorded a double for Harrington at Tipperary earlier in the week, added: "The two-year-olds aren't quite there yet but the older ones are flying the flag well and it's a long season."

Slattery team in top form

Harrington and Foley were not the only combination to record back-to-back winners as Andrew Slattery jnr and snr also had a double.

Dedillon and Solene Lilyette benefited from tactically impressive rides from Slattery jnr, who does not turn 20 until next month.

"I thought Solene Lilyette was my best chance but the ground dried and she wants dig in it," said Slattery snr, whose 25-1 winner was bought for €12,000 from Moyglare Stud in February. "Her work suggested she was a premier handicap horse on soft ground."

He added of Dedillon: "She's owned by a local from just over the road in Patrickswell called Sean Rushe. He actually had open-heart surgery the week before her last win – this will cheer him up."

Several withdrawals

There were 24 non-runners for ground-related reasons at Limerick, where the going changed from yielding, good to yielding in places on Thursday to good, good to firm in places on Saturday morning.

Following aerating of the track prior to the eight-race card, the going was described as good, with Shane Lyons, assistant to brother Ger, giving credit to those involved in producing the surface.

Speaking after Flagged got off the mark in the fillies' mile maiden, Lyons said: "We were worried about the good to firm this morning but they aerated the track and got the moisture back on top to get the firm out of it. It's safe ground so between clerk of the course Val O'Connell and the Limerick team, they got it right."

He added of the promising Juddmonte winner: "She's still green but it's only her second run. We like her and it's a bonus to get the maiden win out of the way."
