Denise Foster team continues excellent run of form with 355-1 treble
Denise Foster's Cullentra team is beginning to hit top form with the Galway festival around the corner and sent out a 355-1 treble to make it nine winners since the beginning of July.
Cheltenham Festival-winning rider Jordan Gainford was at his best for the first two legs of the treble, driving out Buddy Rich to land the opening Plus2Print Remembering Tony Oakes MBE Hurdle at 4-1.
Grangeclare Native, carrying the colours of Gigginstown House Stud, secured the middle leg of the treble with an overdue success at 18-1 in the 2m6f maiden hurdle under a positive ride from Gainford.
An impressive bumper performance concluded the card as well-backed 11-4 chance Gris Majeur scored by 13 lengths under Jamie Codd, marking himself out as a bright prospect for the future.
Power on the scoresheet
Kilkenny trainer Garrett Power returned to the winner's enclosure for the first time since July 2019 as Westernerona made it 13th time lucky in the 2m3f handicap hurdle.
"I'm delighted for the owners and would like to thank them for their support," Power told Racing TV. "I only have a handful of horses in at the moment – we have a few waiting to come back for point-to-pointing – but we needed that badly."
He added of the Together Again Syndicate-owned mare: "I think she probably wants further [than today's trip] and she could go to Cork next for a mares' race after Galway."
