Classic prospect Sissoko has Donnacha O'Brien dreaming of Epsom glory

Donnacha O'Brien has high hopes for impressive Curragh maiden winner Sissoko, who could yet develop into an Epsom Derby contender next season after a six-length success.

Sent off at 5-1, the well-bred son of Australia tracked what appeared a strong pace set by 3-1 favourite Sun King before powering clear impressively under Gavin Ryan in the colours of Justin Carthy.

"We've always thought a lot of him," O'Brien told Racing TV. "He was one of my better two-year-olds early on but just pulled a muscle that kept him off until the last few weeks.

"He's still in the Vertem Futurity and it's not beyond the bounds of possibility that he could go there but I'd say the likelihood is that he's finished for the year.

"You'd be hoping he could be a Derby horse, that's what you'd be dreaming of, but we'll start him in a trial and see how he gets on."

Harrington at double but eight-day ban for Foley

Jessica Harrington registered a double on the card but there was a sting in the tail for the Commonstown team as stable jockey Shane Foley received an eight-day ban for careless riding after scoring aboard Anner Castle in the 1m4f maiden.

There was interference to the Aidan O'Brien-trained favourite Flora in the closing stages when Foley's mount shifted left under pressure with the rider's stick in his right hand, but the placings remained unalterted following a stewards' inquiry. Foley is believed to be still eligible to ride at the Breeders' Cup.

A tidy performance from 22-1 newcomer Dark Vega, ridden by Nathan Crosse, in the opening 7f maiden was the first leg of the Harrington double for owner-breeders Newtown Anner Stud.
