'A model of consistency' - Linda Perratt praises winner as solid form continues
Tuesday: Hamilton
Trainer Linda Perratt feels her yard has been rejuvenated after a sixth winner in the last fortnight.
Retirement Beckons recorded a second successive victory in the 1m½f apprentice handicap, making it three wins from his last five outings.
“We were very hopeful and we could have done without the torrential rain the night before, but these things keep you on your toes,” said Perratt.
“He has been fantastic this year and is a model of consistency because he’s always there or thereabouts.”
After a slow start to the year, some new faces in the yard have helped Perratt to register six winners this month.
“We’ve had a few hard-luck stories where we did not get the rub of the green, but that has quickly changed,” she said.
“We had money to buy a few new horses at the sales, and we’ve since had some more owners, so we had to move on some of the old and lower-rated horses.
“The new horses have come alive and we can go to war with the best hand we’ve had for a while.”"
Camacho kicks on
Julie Camacho shows no signs of slowing down after recording her highest number of winners in a calendar year, adding to her tally when Ballyconneely Bay landed the 6f handicap.
The North Yorkshire-based trainer has notched 30 winners this year and is operating at a 16 per cent strike-rate.
Glam rocks
Roger Varian won with his only runner on the card as Glam De Vega landed the feature 1m1f Scottish Trophy to make the long journey from Newmarket worthwhile.
