Hannon's Tabarrak bids to defy penalty in Mile
Unibet Doncaster Mile (3.00), Listed 1m, 4yo+ | ITV4/ATR
The Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned Tabarrak is penalised again after winning a similar race under a 3lb penalty at Newbury when last seen in September.
"I'm very happy with how he's working at home and feel if he can show anything like he did last year he should run very well," said trainer Richard Hannon. "He's run well on softer surfaces before and I'm confident he'll be able to deal with it."
The Roger Varian-trained Zabeel Prince won three handicaps in a row last year before finishing the campaign with a below-par performance at Ascot.
"He's been training well and the plan has always been to start him back at this meeting," said Varian. "This is his first run at Listed level, but his form reads well in the context of the race.
"He's a lightly raced five-year-old who is hopefully capable of further improvement this year and he shouldn't mind the ground."
The former John Gosden-trained Crazy Horse, who won a Group 3 in 2015, has not been in action since disappointing in this race last year.
The five-year-old has been gelded since and makes his debut for trainer George Baker, who said: "He has proven form at Group level but has had a few issues and we've given him plenty of time.
"He's a very happy horse at home but this will be the acid test back on a racecourse."
The Fahey-trained Another Touch might have uninspiring form figures but a bold show is not being ruled out.
"He's the outsider of the bunch but might run better than his odds suggest," said the trainer. "He has fitness on his side and won't mind the ground."
