One key runner in the five ITV races at Kempton and Wetherby on Boxing Day
Play Ladbrokes 5-A-Side On Football Novices' Limited Handicap Chase, 2m4½f
In what is a competitive start to the action on ITV, Mr One More is an interesting runner on his second start since returning from a 1016-day absence.
His second at Chepstow last time will have delighted Harry Fry and JP McManus and he looks to have the progressive profile needed to tackle the likes of Alnadam and Killer Clown.
Ladbrokes Kauto Star Novices' Chase (Grade 1), 3m
The key runner in this first fascinating Grade 1 of the afternoon is The Big Breakaway, who tries to bounce back from a disappointing showing at Exeter last time.
He needs to travel and jump with more fluidity if he is to keep tabs on the foot-perfect Shan Blue, while Grade 1-winning hurdler If The Cap Fits adds another layer of intrigue.
William Hill Rowland Meyrick Handicap Chase (Grade 3), 3m
The question mark here is how Paddy Power Gold Cup runner-up Spiritofthegames will handle the step up to three miles for the first time under rules.
A seasoned handicapper for the Skelton team, Spiritofthegames has finished second or third in Listed or Grade 3 handicaps on six occasions without success.
If the step up in trip is to his liking he may prove to hold the class edge over his eight rivals, which include Haydock winner Snow Leopardess and the Alan King-trained Canelo.
2.25 KemptonLadbrokes Christmas Hurdle (Grade 1), 2m
Undefeated in more than a year, Epatante was fabulous at Cheltenham and ruthless on her reappearance in the Fighting Fifth this season. She is likely to be her own biggest danger at Kempton, although last year's Christmas Hurdle second and third Silver Streak and Ballyandy are in opposition again.
Ladbrokes King George VI Chase (Grade 1), 3m
The Paul Nicholls-trained duo Clan Des Obeaux and Cyrname are vying for market superiority but Colin Tizzard and Lostintranslation could be the fly in the 11-time champion trainer's ointment.
Lostintranslation was disappointing in the Betfair Chase but connections are confident last season's Gold Cup third can return to form at Kempton, where ground conditions could be more suitable than those he faced on his return at Haydock.
