Latest key betting news, non-runners, going and weather
It ends here, unfortunately. A week of superb performances – some affirming, others revelatory – ends with Saturday's Ascot card, where we might well get to see more of the same.
Expect high expectations on whatever wins the opening Chesham (2.30), 12 months on from Churchill. In the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes (3.40), Dartmouth is out for a second win of his own and an 11th in the race for his trainer Sir Michael Stoute. He also brings the seemingly unifying hope of a royal winner at the meeting.
The main race of the day is the Diamond Jubilee (4.20), where nowadays the older sprinters get to answer the excitement whipped up by the previous day's Commonwealth Cup. The ever-popular Limato has to prove he's still the horse to beat in the July Cup.
The last big betting heat of the week is the Wokingham (5.00). With 30 runners at 9-1 the field, it is in essence the Diamond Jubilee on expert mode for punters.
