ITV Racing tips: one key runner from each of the eight races on ITV4 on Saturday
1.25 Haydock
Sky Bet Supreme Trial Rossington Main Novices' Hurdle (Grade 2), 1m7½f
It is a big afternoon for Nicky Henderson and the unbeaten Jonbon could enhance his burgeoning reputation with another Grade 2 win. Might I was no match for Jonbon's excellent stablemate Constitution Hill, but is a smart prospect in his own right.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: JONBON
Grade 2 winner already; has his penalties but he's turning into a high-class prospect
SBK Holloway's Handicap Hurdle, 2m3½f
Garry Clermont has run well twice at this course this season and connections will hope the extra distance can help him get his head in front. Five of the 11 runners finished second last time, including Unexpected Party and Stellar Magic.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: STELLAR MAGIC
Clear second at Haydock on reappearance; looks the type to improve further; respected
New One Unibet Hurdle (Grade 2), 1m7½f
Tommy's Oscar could book his Champion Hurdle ticket with a fourth consecutive win for Ann and Ian Hamilton. It is far from the strongest running of this race, but last year's winner Navajo Pass will try again.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: TOMMY'S OSCAR
One of the rising stars on the northern scene after winning three successive handicaps
2.20 Ascot
SBK Mares' Hurdle (Grade 2), 2m7½f
Dan Skelton won this last season with Roksana, and he fields a strong contender in Molly Ollys Wishes. My Sister Sarah is an interesting opponent for Willie Mullins, who claimed this race in 2016 with Vroum Vroum Mag.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: ANYTHINGFORLOVE
Progressive over hurdles; clear second in Sandown Listed race most recently; interesting
2.35 Haydock
Peter Marsh Handicap Chase (Grade 2), 3m1½f
Royale Pagaille was a dominant 16-length winner of this famous handicap last season and bids to repeat the trick off 7lb higher. He must give at least 11lb to his rivals, including Remastered, Empire Steel and course-and-distance winner Lord Du Mesnil.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: EMPIRE STEEL
Travelling ominously well when falling four out at Wetherby on Boxing Day; well treated
2.55 Ascot
bet365 Handicap Chase, 2m5f
Palmers Hill impressed over shorter at this venue last month and could be capable of defying a 8lb rise. It is unlikely to be an easy task with four last-time-out winners in opposition, including the classy Fanion D'Estruval and decisive Wincanton scorer Killer Clown.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: PALMERS HILL
Well suited by the return to chasing this term, winning at Wetherby and this course
Paul Kealy's Saturday banker at Haydock
BioWaveGo Portman Cup Chase, 3m4½f
Yala Enki has made this long distance chase his own since it was created and bids to complete a hat-trick at the age of 12. Full Back won at Cheltenham on New Year's Day and has the most scope for improvement, but Elegant Escape and Ramses De Teillee cannot be easily dismissed.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: YALA ENKI
Won last two editions of this race and looked as good as ever at Cheltenham in November
3.35 Ascot
SBK Clarence House Chase (Grade 1), 2m1f
A humdinger of a race as Shishkin and Energumene, two titans of the two-mile chase division, clash for the first time. One of their unbeaten records over fences will fall and Shishkin is the favourite to retain his with the bookmakers. Last year's winner First Flow adds some depth to the race.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: SHISHKIN
Hugely talented; won last season's Arkle; similarly impressive at Kempton on reappearance
