Gordon Elliott out to keep his hot run of form going at Fairyhouse
Gordon Elliott will hope to keep his foot on the accelerator after another productive weekend at Naas and Navan where he surpassed the 100-winner mark for the season in Ireland and Britain, and unleashed emerging forces Abacadabras and Andy Dufresne.
The trainer has several strong fancies this afternoon, including Camden Village and Definite Plan in the 2m4f novice hurdle (1.45).
The latter is yet another example of a horse suddenly bursting into life under Elliott's guidance.
After pulling up in four points, Definite Plan returned from a 509-day absence to spring a 16-1 surprise in a maiden hurdle at Downpatrick last month and Elliott hopes the seven-year-old can improve on that stable debut.
The six-year-old has been placed five times over hurdles and Mullins reports her charge to have schooled well ahead of his chasing debut in the two-mile rated novice chase (12.35).
Mullins said: “I suppose his last run last year was his only real disappointing one. We're looking forward to getting him over fences.
“He's had a school around Clonmel, so he's ready for this, but we'd be expecting him to come on from it all the same. Hopefully, he can do well over fences. Ballymac Boy is fit and well but we're just trying to get some experience into him.”
