Flames out to burn off rivals back over five furlongs

There is a record turnout for this Listed race with 16 runners set to go to post, including Out Of The Flames, who brings Group 2 form to the table and mixed it with Classic hopes Clemmie and Nyaleti in the Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes last time.

Richard Hannon, who is bidding to land the sprint for the second time in three years after Whatdoiwantthatfor justified favouritism in 2015, drops his filly back in trip after she finished fifth over six furlongs at Newmarket last month.

Prior to that, Out Of The Flames had looked more effective at this distance when third to Heartache in the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot and she faces nothing of that calibre here.

William Haggas, who won this back in 2012 with Rosdhu Queen, is doubly represented with One Minute, who won at York last month, leading the charge from Somerville Lodge with Validator.

Ryan Moore, who rides likely favourite Out Of The Flames, has won this twice before with Rosdhu Queen (2012) and Wind Fire (2013).

Bookmaker bashing

Punters have prospered recently with three favourites obliging in the past five years, including last season's winner Mrs Danvers (5-2). Wind Fire (2013) was also well fancied and won as the 7-4 second favourite.

She's a home-bred so the goal is to get some black type. She was too free over six furlongs last time so that can be ignored and she should be better back at five.

She won a little race last time and we were going to run her in a sales race off a low weight but we thought we'd give this a go instead. If she's not good enough we can always go in nurseries later.

William Jarvis, trainer of Mrs Gallagher
The ground should be fine for her but I'm more concerned about her draw in stall 16 as we'd prefer to be in the middle. She was drawn on the wrong side at Royal Ascot but is in good form and we're hoping for some black type.

William Haggas, trainer of One Minute and Validator
One Minute is very quick and any rain won't be a problem for her. She goes there in good form and won nicely at York last time. There is a possibility that Validator will be more effective over six furlongs rather than five but she is another who won't mind any ease in the ground.

We bypassed a race in France a couple of days ago to wait for this and it looks like a suitable opportunity for her. Going back to five furlongs is the key to her chances and we are hopeful.
