And you thought finding the Royal Hunt Cup winner was hard . . .

Royal Ascot not tricky enough for you? Here's a fillies' and mares' Listed race, one of the trappiest sorts of punting challenge devised.

They invariably attract a field of have-a-go, black type-seekers whose potential can only be guessed at plus established sorts not quite good enough for Group races whose current ability is equally hard to judge.

Though this has been easier than most to call of late, with four of the last six favourites winning, there is only 1lb between the top three on Racing Post Ratings – and 6lb between the top six.

There are plenty more questions than answers around this event. Will front-running Group 3 second Urban Artist be as effective on ground quicker than anything she has raced on before?

What can we expect from last year's Newmarket Listed winner Katara, who has been beaten a total of 38 lengths when last of four on her two appearances since?

How straight is Queen Daenerys on her first run since passing the post first at Longchamp last September only to be disqualified when a banned substance was found in her in sample?

Is crack bumper mare Eileendover ready for this challenge just three weeks after finishing second on her Flat debut?

Will Black Lotus do better at 1m4f, having been keeping on over 1m2f recently?

She is in form and is interesting, as is Golden Pass who makes more appeal than you would expect for a filly who won a handicap off 88 last time.

That Thirsk success showed she is in form and suited by 1m4f and a firm surface.

It was also the third win in just five starts for a four-year-old who has improved her RPR every time she has run. She may not need to progress much further to have prospects here.

What they say

Chris Wall, trainer of Black Lotus
She's been knocking on the door at this level over a mile and a quarter, doing her best work at the finish, and she'll be suited by the step up in trip. She got a mile and a half in the Galtres last year.

Pam Sly, trainer of Eileendover
There's nowhere for her to go and there are some nice fillies in this but she's in good order and I was pleased with her first run on the Flat.

Hugo Palmer, trainer of Golden Pass
I'm very happy with her. She's a filly on the up, she stays well and she's versatile as to ground.

Alison Begley, UK racing manager for Al Shaqab Racing, owners of Katara
She was disappointing at Goodwood and nothing much came to light but Sir Michael Stoute is happy with her again and we hope she can bounce back to the form she showed when winning at Newmarket last year.

Roger Varian, trainer of Queen Daenerys
She took time to come to hand and we've had to be patient with her. Her work is up to standard and she's ready to get her season started, though she could have been drawn better [stall nine].

Hughie Morrison, trainer of Urban Artist
She's coming back in trip but the stiff track will help her. They have not had the rain I had hoped but she'll take her chance. I don't know how well she'll go on the faster ground.
