High-class action at York and Cork but Chepstow and Newton Abbot lost to rain

Newton Abbot and Chepstow on Friday and Worcester on Saturday are the latest meetings to fall foul to June's precarious spell of adverse weather, but punters still have plenty to look forward to with seven cards.

The mile Listed Ganton Stakes at York (4.05), won last year by the popular Sovereign Debt, is arguably the pick of the day's action with the classy Sir Dancealot out to build on a promising seasonal return when seventh in the Lockinge.

Another contest of note is the 1m4f Group 3 Munster Oaks at Cork (6.55), where Four White Socks is an intriguing contender on her first start for Harry Fry after leaving the retired Luca Cumani.

Sandown serves up further afternoon racing, with Aintree, Goodwood and Fairyhouse providing the twilight action as anticipation builds towards the weekend.
