Solutions, not problems: four key areas of racing that need a second look
Nobody has a monopoly on wisdom, least of all me, so before putting forward the ideas below I have tried to ascertain from senior players in the different parts of the racing game whether they might actually have some traction.
The reason for this goes back to my early days, not as an embryonic race-caller but as an eager young strategic-planning analyst. Back then it was drilled into me by my managing director that his door was always open if you felt something could be done better.
A rapid exit would follow, however, if such criticism was not accompanied by suggestions for improvement. It was no problem if the ideas proved not to be sound or needed further refinement as long as the objective was positive rather than negative.
