Promising signs as Epsom's revival as centre of excellence gathers pace
There are many places an owner can send a racehorse to be trained. One such place is green and tranquil with first-class facilities, yet also only 20 miles from Trafalgar Square.
In many ways Epsom should be the perfect training centre, but for some years now it has been a sleeping giant, far removed from the days of old when it was full of trainers whose yards were full of horses. Now, at last, there are signs it is emerging from that period of slumber with renewed optimism. There is much good news to report – and what a pleasure it is to report it.
First, Jim Boyle is hoping in October to secure planning approval for the total reimagining of South Hatch Stables through the creation of a new purpose-built training facility.
