Not so super Saturday: how racing is letting the lessons of Covid go to waste

You should never let a good crisis go to waste according to the old saying and, as far as crises go, racing has been experiencing its biggest for years and one that is far from finished.

British racing was forced to think on its feet during the first lockdown, and when the sport resumed a little over 12 months ago there was an awful lot about the fixture list which was very different to what had come before.

Aside from the changes to the Pattern and major races being run on very different dates to usual, the fixture list following resumption featured fewer meetings but the number of races per card were increased.
