Let's focus on getting spectators back on track not prize-money squabbles

John Gosden was right and so was Richard Hannon.

On the opening day of York's Ebor festival Gosden expressed the view that, more than anywhere else, he had been struck by the absence of a crowd.

From the perspective of someone else fortunate enough to have been at York, it was obvious there was a crowd, just not an official one. Looking out from the grandstands, a "them and us" picture was painted. It was not pretty.
