I have a confession to make. For many years I have been guilty of a terrible prejudice. Only in the last month or so have I seen the light – and it is all thanks to Mishriff.

Until recently, I was convinced Mishriff wasn't as good as it appeared. Why? Just because he had run in the Saudi Derby in early 2020 having barely turned three.

We've all heard trainers talking many times about the value of patience when it comes to their best young prospects. You don't rush them. Give them time and they will reward you. Yet here was John Gosden sending one halfway around the world all revved up to run for his life when serious Classic prospects are just being gently put through their paces at home in anticipation of the key prizes ahead.
