Last Sunday's two Classics at Chantilly made for uncomfortable viewing for France's racing community.
First Mishriff danced his way through the traffic to make off with the Prix du Jockey Club, then Fancy Blue led home an Irish 1-2-3 in the Prix de Diane with the highly regarded Raabihah first home of the French-trained fillies in fourth.
The modern history of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomph suggests that, Waldgeist and Solemia aside, if the home team is going to prevail it will be with a three-year-old.
