It’s been a strange old week as I recover from a fall at Exeter in which I broke my right forearm and my left collarbone came away from the joint.

I’ve been very lucky to have had an injury-free career, albeit with a couple of dodgy pushes through doctor’s assessments back in my point-to-pointing days, so I can’t complain.

However, it became clear pretty quickly that I wouldn’t class myself as the easiest to look after. Being highly incapacitated is frustrating; not able to lift my upper body to get out of bed or get off the sofa meant that my husband Ed spent a couple of days running around after me like I was some sort of Egyptian pharaoh.
