Bolger bidding to mop up with recent winner Panstarr
Peggy Guerin Memorial Handicap | 1m2f | 3yo |ATR
The Jim Bolger-trained Panstarr, successful over this course and distance on good-to-yielding ground last month, will attempt to complete a quick-fire double under a penalty for Kevin Manning.
The Godolphin-owned filly subsequently produced an excellent effort from the front to run out victorious in a competitive handicap over half a furlong shorter at Gowran Park on soft going just five days ago.
The daughter of Pivotal will carry an extra 6lb for that latest win, while Joseph O'Brien's Apparition is another contender attempting to land back-to-back successes.
The topweight was last seen winning the amateur riders' Derby at the Curragh in July over a mile and a half, and O'Brien said: "He's been in great form since he won at the Curragh and we're happy with him.
"The ground at Roscommon is due to get very soft and that would be a bit of an unknown as he's never run on a surface like that."
Perfect Soldier, trained on the Curragh by Michael O'Callaghan, has already demonstrated an ability to handle soft ground when he shed his maiden tag at Galway at the beginning of the month, before going down by just over a length in a 7f handicap here last week.
Two-time handicap winner Hyperdrive represents Jessica Harrington, while the Harry Rogers-trained Ontheiflist, who has made the frame on five of his 11 starts, will be blinkered for the first time. The Willie McCreery-trained Cold Spring completes the line-up.
There are 30-50mm of rain forecast before racing at Roscommon, which could put the meeting in doubt.
