It will not be long before Newbury's crowd is cheering home ten-year-old chasers, but they had a veteran sprinter to root for in Take Cover, the apple of David Griffiths' eye who produced a performance the trainer reckoned to be among his best when making all in the World Trophy Stakes.

Griffiths said the Singspiel gelding, who runs in the colours of Norcroft Park Stud, had been "amazing" for his training career after he scooted clear of his rivals under David Allan.

"This is our eighth season now and this lad has put us up a little bit higher and he keeps coming back and showing how good he is," beamed Griffiths.
