Eclipse winner all primed to sparkle for Godolphin
Godolphin's first Eclipse Stakes winner in a dozen years tries to prove his team are back in the Group 1-winning groove for good at York today when Hawkbill seeks to give the operation their first Juddmonte International triumph since 2004.
Three days after Ribchester landed the Prix Jacques le Marois, it is Hawkbill's turn to demonstrate he is the heir apparent to Halling, Sakhee and Sulamani, former International winners in an era when Godolphin were a dominating force.
The three-year-old Hawkbill registered Godolphin's second European Group 1 win of 2016 and a breakthrough success for trainer Charlie Appleby, whose other highlights were with two-year-olds, when he defeated The Gurkha at Sandown in July.
