Royal Ascot - ITV Racing Tips

Racing Post experts pick their best bet for the second day of Royal Ascot in a bid to help you find more winners.

Royal Hunt Cup – BELL ROCK

Bell Rock failed to land any of three starts in 2019 but he was gelded during a lengthy break and got back on track at Newmarket two weeks ago, coming from off the pace to beat Ouzo in the dying strides. Given how hard it was to make up the ground at that meeting it was an even more impressive display than it looks at first glance and he is potentially better than the handicapper.

Copper Horse Handicap – RANCH HAND

Andrew Balding's four-year-old went off favourite for last year's Cesarewitch after a good win at Haydock, but he couldn't cope with the test at that stage of his career. He remains a potentially very decent stayer, though, and is only 5lb higher than for his Haydock win, while the horse he beat by two lengths that day (Trueshan) has gone up 18lb.

Royal Ascot - ITV7 Tips

The ITV7 competition is back for every day of Royal Ascot and is completely free to play. The Racing Post experts make their selections for the competition.

Race 1 – 1.50 Ascot

The Aidan O'Brien-trained RUSSIAN EMPEROR didn't enjoy the run of the race when keeping on for second behind a front-running stablemate in the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial last Tuesday, and this well-bred colt can build on that promising performance today.

Race 2 – 2.25 Ascot

Charlie Appleby and William Buick teamed up to win this in 2015 and can strike again with BRIGHT MELODY, whose strong finish for third in the 1m2f Group 3 Classic Trial at Kempton marks him down as a promising candidate for 1m4f.

Race 3 – 2.35 Beverley

There was an eyecatching run from PHOENIX APPROACH on the middle of his three 2yo starts and he's taken to make a winning handicap debut, on his first start since being gelded.

Race 4 – 3.00 Ascot

This is a fine opportunity for JAPAN to add another top-flight win to the two he gained last season. On the form of his Juddmonte International win and indeed his fourth in the Arc, Aidan O'Brien's colt is the form pick.

Race 5 – 3.35 Ascot

Preference is for DARK VISION, who looks the pick of Mark Johnston's trio having made an encouraging reappearance at Newcastle. He has back class and remains well treated.

Race 6 – 4.10 Ascot

In terms of British form there are several appealing candidates notably TACTICAL, who is taken to build on his Newmarket promise and give The Queen a Royal Ascot winner.

Race 7 – 4.40 Ascot

An open race which may go to FLOATING ARTIST, who is on a very feasible mark on last season's good 1m4f form (including when winning here) and has shaped as if this trip will suit.
