Richard Hannon, Richard Fahey and David Egan give their Royal Ascot opinions
Derby-winning jockey Pat Smullen and Sky Bet's Stuart Jones complete the panel
Royal Ascot starts with a bang and so shall we. What is your day one Group 1 treble?
David Egan, jockey I think Accidental Agent will win the Queen Anne again. He ran a very good race in the Lockinge and if he improves from that he will go close. I ride Enzo’s Lad in the King’s Stand. His homework has been good, he’s a big price but I’m hoping for a good run. I think Phoenix Of Spain will be hard to beat in the St James’s Palace Stakes.
Richard Fahey, trainer I’d have to go with Laurens in the Queen Anne. She’s a multiple Group 1 winner and she gets the sex allowance, which is useful. The King’s Stand is a fascinating race and I would go with Battaash. When he turns up he is a really quality horse. And I’ve been impressed by Phoenix Of Spain – he did it well in the Irish 2,000 Guineas.
Richard Hannon, trainer Battaash is made for the King’s Stand as long as he does not beat himself. He has speed to burn and is a true champion on his day. I hope Barney Roy, who did so well for the yard a couple of years ago, can win the Queen Anne. And last but not least, Fox Champion in the St James’s Palace. He’s on a roll and in really good shape.
