Tote facilities not available to owners on Derby day despite trial run
There will be no Tote betting facilities available to owners on Derby day at Epsom, despite them being in use at test events at Southwell and Kempton on Wednesday.
The BHA confirmed on Thursday evening that Saturday’s fixtures will mark the official return of owners to British racecourses following the success of the two trials, with interim measures in place including the admission of a maximum of two owners per horse, strict health screenings and segregation from raceday participants, including trainers and jockeys.
However, while winning owners will be included in Derby day trophy presentations, there will not be a Tote kiosk open to owners on course, with discussions ongoing about when a service can be offered again at fixtures.
Investec Derby card and betting
A Britbet spokesman said: “We ran a small trial at Southwell and Kempton on Wednesday, with one member of staff using one of our positions located within the designated area that owners were allowed into.
“We will not be operating at Epsom or other venues this weekend, but will continue to work with the RCA and the BHA and hope to be able to offer a service soon as further easings to restrictions take place.”
