Mud-loving Addeybb revels in testing ground to record his best rating
Addeybbproduced the performance of his life to claim a first European Group 1 in the Qipco Champion Stakes, recording a Racing Post Rating of 126 to go one better than when runner-up to Magical last year.
This wasn't the strongest of Champion Stakes but, in keeping with the ground, there was some depth to it and, with conditions to his liking, Addeybb took full advantage of some disappointing efforts from the market principals.
Magical had run close to her best when holding Addeybb by three-quarters of a length on officially soft ground last year, but a Topspeed going allowance of -4 suggests the ground was significantly deeper for Saturday's card. That clearly played a part in allowing the mud-loving six-year-old to turn the form around.
