Beauty Generation and Aethero handed good draws for Group 1 Sha Tin missions
Superstar miler Beauty Generation has been handed a favoured draw of stall five as he bids to win the FWD Champions Mile for a record third time among a feast of Group 1 action at Sha Tin on Sunday.
The John Moore-trained seven-year-old was sent off the 1-20 favourite when winning this last year after winning his previous eight starts, but things have not been as straightforward since then as the son of Road To Rock suffered four defeats in the autumn.
However, Beauty Generation bounced back to form with Group 1 and Group 2 victories on his last two starts and Moore couldn't be happier with his stable star.
"He was very enthusiastic about his work this morning," said the trainer. "He did everything right, he came back and couldn't blow a match out.
"I saw him coming back and I'm thrilled, everything has gone to plan and it's all systems go."
Moore added about the draw: "Five is perfect – we've got the speed influence on our inside so that will give us the chance to come out and come over, and no doubt camp outside Ka Ying Star unless something foreseen transpires."
Aethero suffered unexpected defeats on his last two starts after missing the break but Moore is hoping the son of Sebring will this time break quickly and even compared his charge to Olympian sprinter Usain Bolt.
"I expect him to ping and get to the front. We might see the best of him," said Moore. "This is a good gate for him – I prefer the middle for him because on the inside, if you break a fraction slowly, you can get knocked down.
"It's the same gate as last time but I think everything will be all right unless he gets something that plays up alongside him and sets him off or something – something unexpected.
"We did drop his weight off a little bit – he looks light enough anyway, he looks like what I'd call a Usain Bolt type in that he's tall and lean with that perfect physique. That's how I look at Aethero. He doesn't look fat but there could be a 20lb difference and you wouldn't see it.
