A key moment for James Maloney, 46, the new Racing Post/SIS Betting Shop Manager of the Year, came during the judging process the day before he received his trophy from William Buick.
Richard Hayler, managing director of the Independent Betting Adjudication Service and one of the six judges, asked him: "Why do you want to be manager of the year?"
Maloney did not miss a beat. "It's time to tell my story," he replied.
