'It's crippling the sport' - Musselburgh boss on 2023 fixture list
British racing will remain unattractive unless meetings are culled, according to Musselburgh's long-serving general manager Bill Farnsworth, who was reacting to the publication of the 2023 fixture list on Wednesday.
That release revealed 1,478 fixtures, which is in line with the tally of 1,482 announced at this stage last year, although it coincided with a rise in minimum values for prize-money across the board.
The number of meetings is often cited as a reason for low turnouts in races and Farnsworth, a respected industry figure who has served on the BHA board, again outlined that point.
