'He's full of determination' - write Dettori off at your peril says Luca Cumani
Luca Cumani, one of Frankie Dettori's closest confidants, is backing his former stable jockey to bounce back from his split with John and Thady Gosden and thinks talk that this could be the beginning of the end for the rider is wide of the mark.
Cumani and Dettori's relationship stretches back to 1985, when the then 14-year-old rider joined the Newmarket trainer as an apprentice before going on to become stable jockey.
Cumani was one of the first to speak to his friend after it was announced on Friday that Gosden and Dettori had decided to "take a sabbatical from the trainer-jockey relationship" following days of speculation the seven-year partnership had begun to unravel.
