Quiet Reflection back with a bang to land Naas Group 3

Last year's Commonwealth Cup and Sprint Cup star Quiet Reflection ran out an easy winner of the Group 3 Renaissance Stakes for Martin Harley and Karl Burke, her first start since finishing tenth at Haydock in May.

Burke, who had earlier trained Ellthea to win the Group 3 Park Stakes, had said before the race that the Ontoawinner-owned filly was "pretty fit" but was using this as a stepping stone for a tilt at the Champion Sprint Stakes at Ascot next month.

He was right – she was definitely fit enough to do herself justice and she did. She was briefly short of room in the middle of the pack, with Harley looking to bring her wide but kept in by Billy Lee on chief market rival Downforce.

However, a gap opened up and Quiet Reflection quickened up in impressive style – quickly eroding the deficit between herself and pacemaker and runner-up Alphabet, who had kicked for home early under Ryan Moore.

Under hands and heels she pulled clear, coming home an impressive two and three-quarter-length winner.

A huge relief

Burke said: "She's very good when she has cut in the ground and it's a huge relief to see her back winning after a quiet season.

"If she comes out of today's race well we'll go for the Champions Sprint at Ascot. If we get her ground there I think she'll put it up to Harry Angel and company."

It's not just Harry Angel she will face, but Caravaggio and The Tin Man among others, but Paddy Power cut the Burke-trained filly into 8-1 (from 16) for the 6f contest.
