Wednesday: Catterick

Trainer Jamie Snowden is weighing up a tilt at the Midlands National at Uttoxeter with Git Maker after his seven-year-old recorded a second course-and-distance victory when landing the 3m1f novice handicap chase.

Git Maker took his record to five wins from eight starts when scoring comfortably under Gavin Sheehan, and Snowden could not be happier with how he has progressed since his debut 12 months ago.

Snowden said: “Everyone loves the Git! He’s a dude of a horse and is very likeable.

“He’s certainly going the right way. He’s learning with experience and it was another lovely ride from Gavin, so fingers crossed he progresses.”

Git Maker has won two of his four starts since switching to fences this season, and Snowden could aim him at a big prize in the months to come.

He added: “These novice handicap chases seem to suit him well, and I might give him an entry into the Midlands National and have half an eye on that.

“It’s taken a bit of time for him to take to his jumping, but he's improving and getting the hang of it.”

Delighted Daly

Supreme Gift took the 2m3½f novice hurdle under 7lb claimer Alice Stevens to continue trainer Henry Daly's fine form this season.

The six-year-old, who won under a double penalty, has been successful in three of his four starts this season, while Daly is on 20 winners for the campaign.

He said: “If they all won three in a year I’d be delighted. You only have to look at our stats to see we’re in good form this year. We have some nice horses, which makes it a lot easier.”
