The UFC returns to the Apex in Las Vegas to bid farewell to 2021 as heavyweight duo Derrick Lewis and Chris Daukaus headline the card.

Last time out Lewis suffered a defeat to Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight belt but he had racked up for wins in a row prior to that loss.

Daukaus is the new kid on the block, having made his UFC debut in August 2020, and he is 4-0 with the company.

The Philadelphia Police Officer sent out a statement with his second-round TKO victory over Shamil Abdurakhimov but Lewis represents a step up in opponent.

Lewis has sealed 20 of his 25 victories via KO or TKO and another win by that route at 6-4 offers interest, especially when considering two of Daukaus's three defeats have come by KO.

Many have suggested that Belal Muhammad could be a title contender next year but he'll have to overcome veteran Stephen Thompson to keep those hopes alive.

Muhammad has won five of his last six trips to the octagon - the other was a no-contest - and he's subsequently risen to tenth in the rankings, while Thompson, who fought for the welterweight title in 2016 and 2017, has lost three of his last five and appears to be on the way down.

Thompson's unorthodox karate style always makes him a difficult prospect but Muhammad is a smart fighter and should be able to stay out of range.

A Muhammad win by decision, available at 7-2, is worth exploring when considering 14 of his 19 victories have come courtesy of the judges.
