UFC 270 betting preview

UFC 270 is the first major card of 2022 and the main event looks certain to live up to expectations as two former training partners collide with heavyweight gold on the line.

Champion Francis Ngannou goes up against interim champion Cyril Gane in what is set to be a major clash of styles. Ngannou boasts incredible knockout power and has picked up 12 of his 16 victories via that route, including each of the last five.

Gane, meanwhile, moves like a welterweight and is arguably the most technically adept fighter the heavyweight division has seen. Bon Gamin does have power too but he is often more than happy to keep out of range and earn victory via a decision.

That's likely to be how this plays out between two athletes who trained together at MMA Factory in Paris for five years.

Ngannou is likely to come out swinging, seeking his one big shot, but if Gane can survive that early pressure, he should be able to control proceedings from the outside to become the undisputed champion.

There's also a title on the line in the co-main event when Deiveson Figueiredo attempts to claim the flyweight belt back from Brandon Moreno.

This will be their third successive meeting after fighting to a draw in December 2020 before Moreno earned a submission victory to become the champion in June last year.

Figueiredo was the better fighter the first time and would have won had he not been deducted a point for repeated groin strikes and he is the pick here.

Deus Da Guerra admitted he struggled with the weight cut ahead of the second meeting and he should be back to his explosive best as the fighters meet for the third time.
