Chelsea's lead at the top of the Premier League has been cut to just one point after they drew 1-1 with Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The Blues had to come from behind against a United side who left talisman Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench and it was Ronaldo's replacement, Jadon Sancho, who opened the scoring in the 50th minute, pouncing on a mistake by Chelsea midfielder Jorginho.

Jorginho made amends from the penalty spot 19 minutes later but neither side could find a winner in a frantic final quarter of the match.

The reigning European champions are 3-1 second favourites to add the Premier League trophy to their collection but the chasing pack are closing in with Liverpool hammering Southampton on Saturday and Manchester City getting the better of West Ham in snowy conditions at the Etihad earlier on Sunday.

City made sure they stayed on the Blues tail by claiming a 2-1 win over fourth-placed West Ham with Ilkay Gundogan and Fernandinho both on target for the Citizens, who are 4-6 to reclaim their Premier League crown.

Manuel Lanzini knocked in a consolation for David Moyes’s Hammers, who are 9-2 to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Everton have now taken just one point from their last six games after they fell to an Ivan Toney penalty at Brentford on Sunday.

Liverpool are up next for the Toffees at Goodison Park on Wednesday with the rampant Reds 4-1 to win the title and 2-5 to pile more misery on their Merseyside rivals.

Leicester saw off Watford 4-2 with striker Jamie Vardy helping himself to two goals in the victory over the Hornets.

Burnley’s game with Tottenham was snowed off following a fault with the undersoil heating at Turf Moor.
