Crystal Palace's five-week search for a new manager has concluded with Frank De Boer signing up as Sam Allardyce's replacement.

De Boer lasted less than three months in his previous job at Inter but was reportedly the preferred choice of Palace chairman Steve Parish.

However, the support of the chairman may only last so long and De Boer's chances of a long-term stay are questioned by Betway, who offer 8-11 that he remains in charge for the first game of the 2018-19 season and even-money that he has gone by then.

Palace finished 14th last season after flirting with relegation and De Boer's challenge is to move them forward. The Eagles are 3-1 for a top-ten finish in 2017-18 and 5-1 to be relegated.

John Terry has been strongly linked with a move to the Midlands and Aston Villa seem to be winning a tug of war with rivals Birmingham for his signature.

Betway make Villa the 1-4 favourites to be the former Chelsea star's next club with Birmingham 4-1.

A Premier League stay is looking unlikely although West Brom have been mentioned as potential suitors and get a 12-1 quote.

Northampton have been slashed from 50-1 to 20-1 for League One by Paddy Power after news of a financial boost from Chinese investment group 5USport.

Cobblers chairman Kelvin Thomas has confirmed that extra funds will be made available to manager Justin Edinburgh, who will be tasked with improving substantially on last season's 16th-placed finish.
