Baggies boss 13-8 for debut win as Everton land Allardyce
Toffees eased for relegation
Two of the Premier League’s strugglers are hoping for fresh starts after West Brom confirmed the appointment of Alan Pardew as their new manager and Everton finally secured the services of Sam Allardyce.
Pardew’s first game as Baggies boss is against Crystal Palace, one of his former clubs, and he is 13-8 to enjoy a winning debut at The Hawthorns on Saturday.
After the Palace fixture, West Brom’s next three league assignments are Swansea away, Liverpool away and Manchester United at home and bet365 are betting on when Pardew claims his first three points as Throstles boss.
A victory over Palace on Saturday is the market leader while it’s 100-30 that his first win is at Swansea, 16-1 that it comes at Anfield and 14-1 that he breaks his duck against United on December 17.
Coral punters weren’t entirely convinced by Pardew’s appointment and the firm clipped West Brom from 9-4 to 2-1 for relegation.
Before Wednesday night’s Premier League fixtures, Coral were offering 1-3 about the Baggies staying up and 9-1 about them finishing bottom while a top-half finish was a 6-1 chance.
Allardyce’s appointment as successor to Ronald Koeman at Everton will end a difficult period for the Toffees under interim boss David Unsworth.
And backers of Big Sam for the Goodison Park gig have been through the mill too – the ex-England boss traded at 1-7 for the job in the first week of November before appearing to rule himself out of the running.
Allardyce was 25-1 for the position less than a week ago but a confident gamble on Monday saw his odds slashed from 10-1 to 2-5.
Even at that stage, there was a late plunge on Shakhtar Donetsk coach Paulo Fonseca, whose price collapsed from 50-1 to 5-4 with Ladbrokes before the trail went cold.
Betway eased Everton from 11-2 to 13-2 for the drop before Wednesday night’s clash with West Ham. The firm make Allardyce 6-4 to see out his 18-month contract while Pardew is 5-2 to last his two-and-a-half year deal at The Hawthorns.
