Preview

Eluid Kipchoge is resting and the Olympic champion's absence has produced a competitive London marathon.

Defending champion Shura Kitata, who won an elite-only event that took in laps of St James's Park rather than the usual Greenwich to The Mall route, returns but has been struggling with a hamstring injury.

Kenya's Titus Ekiru leads the market after his victory in Milan and Birhanu Legese is talking about a course record, but there is value in backing Evans Chebet each-way, with one-third the odds offered on the first two by bet365.

He ran 2.03:00 in winning last year's Valencia marathon and could make a big impression on his course debut.

In the women's race, Brigid Kosgei was second at the Olympics and it seems fatigue could be her toughest opponent in London.

She broke Paula Radcliffe's long-standing world record in Chicago in 2019 by 84 seconds and is worth chancing at evens to stay the course.
