Raced in third, behind clear leader with one circuit to go, went second halfway, pushed along and headway 3f out, challenging from over 1f out, kept on to lead towards finish (op 11/4)
Held up in rear, headway and went third but plenty to do over 2f out, stayed on final furlong, not reach leaders (enq held into the running and riding of the gelding, which was ridden in last place before being asked for an effort approaching 2f out, and made up significant ground in the home straight, to finish a strong third of the six runners, beaten 3 1/4l. The Handicapper offered observations and the Veterinary Officer examined the gelding post-race and had nothing to report. Jockey was accompanied in the enquiry by a Jockey Coach. The rider stated her instructions were to drop the gelding in as he has been keen in the past and to ride the race as she found it. Jockey added that down the back straight, she was in behind another runner and was reluctant to come 3 wide to make her move, before eventually getting out and following a rival when making her effort 2f out. Trainer confirmed the instructions and stated that in the first part of the race the ride accorded with the instructions, but in the final 3f she felt that the rider had let the winner and the second placed runners get too far ahead. Jockey was suspended for 10 days, on dates to be notified, for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best possible placing) (op 8/13)
