Glasses Up

4.40 Ayr

Hardly an Ayr meeting goes by without the loveable course specialist Glasses Up showing his face, and he was in such good form when last seen at the track that he simply must be backed again in the 1m2f handicap (4.40) off a mark only 2lb higher than when winning here in May.

Glasses Up was completing a hat-trick at the track and back-to-back course-and-distance wins on that occasion, proving that he is still thriving at the age of ten, and this is his place. He will be making his 46th appearance at Ayr and 11 of his 12 wins have come at the venue.

It is for this reason that his latest below-par run at Hamilton can be easily ignored. His four runs at that course have all ended with defeat and he has never finished nearer than five lengths behind the winner. He definitely shouldn’t be written off on the back of that one run.

There is every chance that he can return to form now that he is back at this track and Jason Hart, who rode Glasses Up to his last victory here, is back on, replacing 5lb claimer Rhys Elliott in the saddle. He has a win, two seconds and a third from five rides on the old stager.
