Duke Of Deception

4.25 Haydock

The one to back in the feature Tim Molony Handicap Chase (4.25) at Haydock is Duke Of Deception, who is a winner on good ground and also won his sole start at Haydock.

The eight-year-old is without a win since that last victory here nearly a year ago, but is only 5lb higher and that is despite running several good races in defeat recently. His last four form figures are 33P2 and he shaped like he was on his way back to form at Warwick ten days ago.

Duke Of Deception recorded his highest Racing Post Rating this season that day and was beaten only a length and three-quarters by winner Northern Poet into second. The handicapper has nudged the selection up 2lb for that, but he races off the same mark here.

That’s because his new BHA rating doesn’t kick in, thanks to him being turned out quickly, and he's evidently handicapped to win again. Returning to Haydock could work the oracle.
