Racing superpowers Coolmore and Godolphin will go head to head in Wednesday's Prince of Wales's Stakes as both Highland Reel and Jack Hobbs were both declared for the £750,000 Group 1.

Highland Reel, trained by Aidan O'Brien for the Coolmore partners, arrives on the back of an impressive success in the Coronation Cup at Epsom, while Godolphin's Jack Hobbs makes his first start since winning the Dubai Sheema Classic at Meydan in March, when Highland Reel failed to fire and was well beaten.

William Buick was aboard the John Gosden-trained Jack Hobbs in Dubai and has nominated the dual Group 1 hero as one of his best rides at the meeting.

Buick said: "Jack Hobbs was second to Golden Horn in the Derby at Epsom, and he won the Irish Derby by five lengths, and both those runs were on fast ground.

"He is dropping back two furlongs in trip this time after winning the Dubai Sheema Classic at Meydan. But with blinkers on [he wore the headgear for the first time in Dubai], it should help him show pace again. They had a positive effect last time."

A total of nine horses were declared for the Prince of Wales's Stakes, with last year's winner My Dream Boat and Coronation Cup third Hawkbill among the most significant absentees.

Jack Hobbs and Highland Reel are battling it out for favouritism at the 11-4 mark, with Sir Michael Stoute's Ulysses, an impressive winner of the Gordon Richards Stakes on his reappearance in April, available at 4-1.

Betway offer 2-5 that Coolmore will have more winners than Godolphin during Royal Ascot. Godolphin are 3-1 to win the head-to-head battle, while it is 9-2 they have the same number of winners.

Betway's Alan Alger said: "Coolmore versus Godolphin should provide an epic battle at Royal Ascot – but with the likes of Winter, Caravaggio, Churchill and Order Of St George at their disposal, it is the Irish set-up that looks set to triumph.

"We are as short as 2-5 that Aidan O'Brien and Co out-do Godolphin, while the boys in blue kick off with ten runners on Tuesday and can be backed at 3-1."

The big betting race on Wednesday is the Royal Hunt Cup and a maximum field of 30 are set to go to post in the ultra-competitive handicap. The most notable absentee is Mustashry, who was an impressive winner over course and distance last July and had been as short as 12-1.

Blair House was the last of the 30 runners to make the cut, while Victoria Cup winner Fastnet Tempest, who also had the Wokingham as an option, has been declared.
