Top jockeys

Jamie Spencer

The Classic-winning jockey has his own way of riding but he often rewards punters' faith at Ascot – his 22 wins at the track over the last five years have yielded a profit of £7.57 to a £1 level stake.

His leading hopes this year include Irish 2,000 Guineas hero Phoenix Of Spain, favourite for the St James's Palace Stakes, and the French 1,000 Guineas third East in the Coronation Stakes.

Frankie Dettori

Flat racing's most popular jockey has a record second to none at the royal meeting and, after finishing second behind Ryan Moore in last year's jockey standings, he could turn the tables on his rival.

Dettori has a 20 per cent strike-rate at the track over the last five years, for a £1.95 profit to a £1 level stake, and is booked for some big rides next week including 2018 Gold Cup hero Stradivarius and last year's champion two-year-old Too Darn Hot.

Top owners

Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum

Sheikh Mohammed Obaid has already enjoyed Group 1 success this year with Defoe in the Coronation Cup at Epsom and his runners' record at Ascot is not too shabby either.

He has had ten winners from 53 runners (a strike-rate of 19 per cent) in the last five seasons and has several leading contenders for further Group 1 glory.

Zabeel Prince, who was last seen landing the Prix d'Ispahan at Longchamp last month, is 8-1 for the opening Queen Anne, while the aforementioned Defoe and Barsanti are set for the Hardwicke Stakes.

Cheveley Park Stud

David and Patricia Thompson's famous silks have been in the winner's enclosure numerous times at Royal Ascot and the track as a whole, and a 16 per cent strike-rate (ten winners from 61 runners, a profit of £19.25) over the last five years is a pretty good indicator of their success.

Among their potential runners is Brigadier Gerard Stakes scorer Regal Reality, a general 14-1 shot for the Prince of Wales's Stakes, Sandown Group 3 winner Veracious and 1,000 Guineas fourth Angel's Hideaway.

Top trainer

Sir Michael Stoute

Sir Michael Stoute's record at Ascot is second to none and he has had 79 winners at the royal meeting alone.

In fact, if you put £10 on all of Stoute's 135 runners at Ascot over the last five seasons it would have given you a £235.70 profit.

Among his formidable team for this year's meeting are the ever consistent Crystal Ocean, the Khalid Abdullah-owned pair of Jubiloso and Mirage Dancer plus Ribblesdale Stakes contender Queen Power.
