Zain Nibras strikes to add to connections' outstanding and 'best' season
Owner Saeed Al Tayer’s standout season kept on giving when Zain Nibras struck in the 7f maiden for Ray Dawson and Ismail Mohammed, who have both been in stunning form this summer.
The three have enjoyed high-profile success with another two-year-old Zain Claudette, who is entered in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket this month, but Mohammed was just as pleased to see Zain Nibras get off the mark after being narrowly beaten at Ffos Las and Beverley on his last two starts.
Mohammed said: "He’s small but he has a big heart. We’ve had a very busy season with him as he’s run six times now."
Tayer has provided Mohammed with all but one of his 13 winners this year, and the trainer added: "This year is the best year he’s had with the couple of Group winners and he’s buying horses as well."
Mixed day for Turner
Hayley Turner shrugged aside a two-day ban received for careless riding on Great News in the 6f handicap won by Mamillius to take the mile handicap aboard the Andrew Balding-trained 7-4 favourite Discomatic.
Worthwhile trip for Ryan
Rossa Ryan struck with his only ride on the card in the 7f handicap to continue his prolific recent form when getting home by a nose aboard Richard Hannon’s Incorrigible, who was scoring over course and distance for the second time this year. The victory took Ryan to 95 winners for the year as he closes in on a maiden century.
