'We're on a bit of a roll' - Rossa Ryan continues red-hot form with double
Rossa Ryan continued his blistering start to the new year when Velvet Vista ran out an easy winner of the 7f classified stakes.
Ryan is based with the Richard Hannon yard but has ridden winners for multiple trainers already this year, and added Mike Murphy to a list which includes the likes of George Boughey, David Loughnane, Gary Moore and Grace Harris.
Ryan said: "My agent is doing a fantastic job as always and we're on a bit of a roll at the moment. It's been brilliant so far and hopefully we can keep that going."
Velvet Vista had yet to register a victory in 18 career starts but recent runs over course and distance hinted that a first success was just around the corner.
Ryan added: "She was a filly who was waiting to win, she just needed things to fall for her. They went hard early and she picked them off easily as they started to fade away."
The jockey added to his tally later on the card when Baby Sham ran out a cosy winner of the mile handicap for trainer Stuart Williams and take Ryan to 13 winners already this month.
Double calling for Carroll
Tony Carroll picked up the two 6f handicaps on the card with Mid Day Rush and Vape.
Cameron Noble forged his way up the inside aboard Vape in the opener before Luke Morris guided Mid Day Rush to a decisive success four races later.
"She's tough and honest," Morris said of Mid Day Rush. "There's plenty of races for a filly like this at this time of year and I'd expect her to have a good winter."
