'She is different class' - Hollie Doyle key as Linda Stubbs enjoys welcome win
Iva Reflection made the 582-mile round trip from Linda Stubbs’s Malton base worthwhile after the four-year-old took the opening 7f handicap in the hands of Hollie Doyle.
The North Yorkshire owner-trainer was enjoying only a sixth success since returning to the training ranks in 2019 following a seven-year break from the sport.
Iva Reflection, who has previously spent time with Tom Dascombe and Tim Easterby, had tumbled down the weights to a career-low mark of 59 and clearly benefited from being reunited with Doyle.
"Hollie was the main factor. She’s ridden quite a lot of winners for us. The fact we could get Hollie for him as she’s won on him before was key. She is different class," Stubbs said.
"We thought he would like the track and there were not many races in the north for him. The team set off at quarter past one in the morning, so I'm glad it was worthwhile!"
Stubbs, who first began training in 1991, was pleased to get back in the winner’s enclosure.
"Since I started back with some of the old owners we’ve only got a handful of horses in. We bought some cheap at the wholesale training sales and have just the six horses in," she said.
Doyle completed a 98-1 double on the Simon Dow-trained Arenas Del Tiempo in the 1m2f handicap.
