'Proper horse' - Tudhope impressed as half-brother to Expert Eye lands maiden
As a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Expert Eye, Duty Of Care could end up on bigger stages than a Monday afternoon card at Newcastle, and he took the first step to climbing the ranks with victory in the 7f maiden.
The juvenile colt had to work hard to see off Mobadra, but was able to get home by half a length. It was another winner for Sir Michael Stoute, who has had five successes from his last ten runners.
Winning jockey Danny Tudhope thinks Duty Of Care will only be better at three, and said on Sky Sports Racing: "He's a beautiful big horse and has done very well to win at seven furlongs. Next year he'll be a proper horse – but he doesn't know it yet.
"He needed the whole length of track to get on top but did it well in the end. I'd imagine he'll improve a hell of a lot."
Jamin strikes again with Shallow Hal
Apprentice Pierre-Louis Jamin has forged a good relationship with Shallow Hal, winning for the second time from three rides on the Karl Burke-trained four-year-old.
The pair took the 6f handicap by a length and three quarters in the colours of the Ontoawinner syndicate, and Jamin said: "He's been in good form recently and he loved it today. He travelled well and picked up nicely."
