When Shishkin and Abacadabras drew 11 lengths clear of their rivals in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle last March, the suspicion was that two high-class horses had fought out the finish.

Abacadabras added to that impression when just taking a stop-go running of the Unibet Morgiana Hurdle, where he repeated his narrow superiority over Jason The Militant from the pair’s meeting at Down Royal.

How much Abacadabras was suited by either the testing ground or the lack of a decent gallop at Punchestown, only Jack Kennedy will know.
