Kameko team eye autumn compensation for 'miler through and through'

Kameko does not have much to show for his three runs in top company since his 2,000 Guineas win, but there were again major positives to be drawn from his performance in the Juddmonte International.

Having to settle for a third successive fourth place, knowing that Kameko is capable of so much better, was frustrating for owner Sheikh Fahad, trainer Andrew Balding and jockey Oisin Murphy.

However, there no longer needs to be any guessing about what his best trip is and so sights are now set on the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, ground permitting. After that there is the tantalising prospect of a trip Stateside for the Breeders' Cup Mile and perhaps even another year in training, although that, say connections, is a conversation yet to be had.
