Classy Another Batt bounces back to winning form on first run for David Barron
Another Batt, who was rated as high as 108 in his prime early in 2019, finished off powerfully to make a winning debut for new connections in what looked a competitive sprint handicap at Thirsk.
Purchased for 65,000gns by Laurence O'Kane at the horses-in-training sale in October last year and moved to David Barron's yard, Another Batt justified the substantial price tag when flying home to peg back long-time leader Bossipop to win by a head at odds of 22-1.
The five-year-old, who was able to run off just 93 after 11 consecutive defeats, was a globetrotter for previous trainers George Scott and Richard Hughes with trips to Turkey, Sweden (twice) and Dubai, and similar targets may be considered in the future.
